We’re in the homestretch of the Fall 2013 semester and to wrap things up on a sweet note we have more wonderful updates and personal milestones to share from within the AHE community!

 

Dr. Tryan L. McMickens, M.Ed. 2007, Assistant Professor, Administration of Higher Education Program

Tryan L. McMickens, an assistant professor of higher education at Suffolk University in Boston, has been selected to receive the Early Career Award from the Graduate School of Education at the University of Pennsylvania. The award honors a recent graduate of the school who has shown outstanding service to the university and has made significant contributions to his or her field. Dr. McMickens is a graduate of Tuskegee University in Alabama. He holds a master’s degree from Suffolk University and a doctorate in higher education from the University of Pennsylvania.

Yanitza Medina, 2012

Yanitza is an Assistant Administrator and Guidance Counselor for the Spanish SEI Program at Charlestown High School. She started in her position in April 2013 and became full time in September 2013. Yanitza said: “As an alum of the Boston Public School system and ESL learner I am able to understand the students that I work with very well because they are in the exact same situation that I was in when I came to the USA. I am able to help students through my personal experience and implement various practices and theories that I learned in the Administration of Higher Education Program.”

Meaghan just began a new job at Northeastern’s College of Professional Studies as a Student Success Specialist.
